The Dolpo is one of the remote, untouched, unspoiled and untamed region of wild nature and traditional ancient Himalaya civilization of lost Tibetan Buddhism society. The Dolpo region is the region of more elevation, more remote and more harsh climate in compare to other places of Dolpo region. The Upper Dolpo is one of the globe’s most wanted regions for voyagers and adventure travelers who want to endeavor the difficulties of nature and land on most mysterious places on the earth. There is a book called “Snow Leopard” by Peter Matthiessen which is written on extinct white leopard of Himalayas which are still found in Upper Dolpo. There is an English movie nominated for Oscar is filmed on Upper Dolpa called as “The Caravan” which get the best location award in Oscar.
The Upper Dolpo is the semi-desert region dominated by Tibetan culture and tradition which are reflected in the traditional villages of Upper Dolpo. There are some magnificent regions in Upper Dolpo which are considered as heaven on earth and among this one is Shey Phoksundo Lake which is an untouched region from modern day civilization. The travelers will encounter some high Himalayan pass during their trip which are dominated by beautiful views and sceneries. The Upper Dolpo trekking adventure starts from taking airplane flight from Kathmandu Airport to Nepalgunj Airport. The walking adventure to upper dolpo starts from Jhupal Village from where the travelers move towards Shey Phoksundo Lake traversing through wild nature, rough hilly roads, backwoods, traditional villages and high Pass until they reach the Shey Phoksundo Lake. The travelers rest at Phoksundo Lake area and further move towards Shey Gompa at saldang village which is an ancient Bon Po village of 2km area still living in their centuries old customs and traditions. The Sheygompa lies on the traditional exchange course to Tibet from Nepal which further leads to ancient Trans Himalayan Trade Route of Nepal and Tibet. The travelers then finally return to Jhupal Village in the end of the trip. The travelers return back to nepalgunj airport from Jhupal Village to each Kathmandu.

Fly from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj
After breakfast, you’ll board a flight from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj, a bustling city in the western Terai region of Nepal. Upon arrival, you’ll have some free time to explore the vibrant markets and cultural attractions of Nepalgunj, immersing yourself in the diverse culture and cuisine of the region.

Fly Nepalgunj to Juphal (2500m). Trek to Dunai (2140m)
Begin your adventure with a scenic flight from Nepalgunj to Juphal, a small airstrip in the Dolpa region. From Juphal, you’ll embark on your first trekking leg to Dunai, the administrative headquarters of Dolpa district. The trail winds through picturesque villages and lush forests, offering stunning views of the surrounding mountains.

Trek to Ankhe (2660m)
Continue your journey deeper into the heart of Dolpo as you trek from Dunai to Ankhe. The trail follows the meandering path of the Bheri River, passing through terraced fields and quaint villages along the way. Restday at Phoksundo Lake (3600m).

Fly Juphal to Nepalgunj and then to Kathmandu.
Board an early morning flight from Juphal to Nepalgunj, where you’ll catch a connecting flight back to Kathmandu. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel and spend the remainder of the day relaxing and reflecting on your epic adventure in Dolpo. In the evening, enjoy a farewell dinner with your fellow trekkers, sharing stories and memories of your time in the mountains.

Depart Kathmandu.
After breakfast, our team will transfer you to the airport for your departure flight, marking the end of your unforgettable journey through the remote regions of Dolpo. Take with you cherished memories of the rugged landscapes, ancient cultures, and warm hospitality of Nepal. Until we meet again, farewell and safe travels!
